Oakleaf hydrangea has a naturally beautiful shape and rarely needs pruning, but if you do choose to prune, you?ll want to wait until immediately after flowering, since buds are set in early fall for next year's floral display. It's getting a little late in the year to prune now - if you do, your plant won't bloom next year. Wait until flowering is finished next summer then immediately prune it back.

Best wishes with your garden!
