Question: I am doing a science fair project and I need to know what is the coating and what nutrients if any is in the coating?

Answer: Petunia seeds are so tiny that they are coated with an inert clay material for ease in handling. There are no additional nutrients in the coating, and it dissolves quickly when the seeds are planted.
