How can we deter squirrels from eating our tomatoes? We put out marigolds, but it didn't work.

The only sure way to keep squirrels from eating your produce is to place a barrier around the plant. You can fashion cages out of chicken wire to contain the plant and all its fruit, and keep squirrels from reaching them. Little critters like squirrels and racoons can be crafty, so make sure there are no easy openings in your cages!
