| It is difficult to hold container plants like this over the winter because the roots are not well insulated the way they would be if planted in the ground. You might try planting them into a nursery bed in the ground outside now, or sink the pots to their rims in the ground and mulch generously in late fall. Or, bring the pots into a sheltered place in late fall. They would need to be kept cool but above freezing so they stay dormant, so a temperature of 35 to 40 degrees would be the goal. Keep the soil barely damp, do not allow it to go bone dry. Take them back out in early spring to reawaken with the season. |
