Hello, Could you tell me why my persimmon trees have no fruits this year? We bought two persimmon trees from the Home Depot nursery. They already had fruits on them when we bought them. The following year, they had lots of fruits on them, although they were smaller than the 1st fruits. But this year, they each have less than 5 fruits? I fertilized them with cow manure... May be it's not the correct fertilizer to use? please advice. Thanks.

Christine,

Persimmons do not set and hold fruit well when they are young. Stresses from droughty soil or soggy soil conditions or excessive fertilization (how much cow manure?) or a heavy fruit load or shady conditions can all result int fruit drop.

Provide good care by not overwatering or overfertilizing. The tree should settle down and start to set and then not drop its fruit loads better each year.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
