Northern Sea Oats (Chasmanthium latifolium) are natural companions for other ornamental grasses such as Adagio Maiden Grass, (Miscanthus sinensis ?Adagio) and National Arboretum Fountain Grass, (Pennisetum alopecuroides), but you can add drama to the border by including perennials such as Goldsturm Black Eyed Susan, (Rudbeckia fulgida var. sullivantii ?Goldsturm?), Magnus Purple Coneflower, (Echinacea purpurea ?Magnus?), Gardenview Scarlet Bee Balm, (Monarda ?Gardenview Scarlet?), or Kobold Gayfeather, (Liatris spicata ?Kobold?). You can also introduce a few annuals for a change in color each season (try cool season primroses, pansies and snapdragons, or warm season salvia or New Zealand impatiens).

Best wishes with your garden!
