The Q&A Archives: Planting boxwood in Fall

Question: Can I buy this week an boxwood and plant it this week? or is it going to be late for the roots be ready for fall?

Answer: In my experience it is better to plant boxwoods in the spring, especially when gardening in a cold climate like yours. You would want to plant with at least ten weeks before the ground freezes if you plant in fall and it is already too late for that. I would wait until spring.
