Why are some of my yellow meat watermelon rotting? They are not ripe yet, some are very small. Is it because of so much rain with the monsoons? Should I clean out the bed getting rid of the dead leaves? I have quite a few melons and every few days find one that has rotted and is oozing the insides.

Excess moisture and/or humidity can certainly cause melons to rot; removing the rotting fruit and leaves will help to increase air circulation in and around your plants, so that's the first step you should take. As soon as you recognize rotting fruit, cut it from the vine and get it out of the garden so the problem doesn't spread to the rest of the plant. Hope you still have a good harvest of watermelons!
