The Q&A Archives: Companion plant to Harry Laurder's walking stick

Question: all the companion plants shown are for shade, yet the walking stick is to be planted in full sun. Confused about this.

Answer: Jane,

There a number of good choices and it really comes down to your personal preferences. I think a backdrop of one of the dark evergreen hollies such a Blue Girl Holly, or a side planting of David Viburnum, or Rose Glow Japanese Barbery would be nice.
