The Q&A Archives: Hostas

Question: What do I need to do to Hostas during the Winter months to prepare them for Spring.

Answer: There's nothing you need to do to ensure your hostas make it through the winter months (they are hardy to zone 3). Your first frost will kill the leaves. You can either remove the leaves from the plant or leave them alone (they will decompose quickly). In the spring, brush or rake away any debris and new leaves will emerge from the crowns of the plants. Enjoy your hostas!
