We have a garden plot about 10 x 20 with 75% sun in summer. From your catalog, which would be the best mix of perennials to plant to attract birds and butterflies. The plot is on the edge of a heavily wooded border with evergreen and hardwood trees.

Here are a few butterfly and bird friendly selections from the 1998 Burpee catalog: Achillea 'Colorado', Coreopsis 'Moonbeam', Coneflower 'Magnus', Erigeron 'Azure Fairy', Delosperma 'Hardy Ice Plant', Heliopsis 'Ballerina', Nepeta 'Walker's Low', Origanum Herrenhausen, Monarda, Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm', Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue', Sedum 'Autumn Joy' or 'Ruby Glow', Shasta Daisy 'Becky' or 'White Knight' and, of course Buddleia Davidii, also known as "Butterfly Bush". You may want to include a good self-sowing annual like Cosmos 'Gazebo Mix' or 'Sensation Mix', butterflies really like them.
