I need a pruning guide or photo to copy. I wish to prune my Bauhinia Blakeana, or be referred to a 'tree artist' that can make use of the Bonsai look of the cascading branches. |
Bauhinia Blakeana blooms winter through spring so pruning now will reduce the number of flowers your tree will produce. You can prune it to keep the umbrella like canopy by simply removing whole branches that are growing out at odd angles. Cut them back to the main trunk. For detailed pruning instructions, check your library for a copy of Pruning by Christopher Brickell. There are many photos and line drawings to guide you through the process. Enjoy your Hong Kong Orchid tree! |
