The best time to propagate your boxelder is mid-summer. You can take tip cuttings and root them in moistened potting soil. Here's how: make 4-6" cuttings from new growth, strip the lower leaves but leave the top 4 leaves attached. Dip the cut ends in rooting hormone and put them into pots or flats filled with moistened potting soil. Place in a shady spot and keep the soil moist but not soggy wet. The cuttings should root in 3-4 weeks.

Best wishes with your project!
