What is a quick growing shade tree, and a quick producing fruit tree

Texas ash tree, poplar and paulowina are the fasted growing shade trees in your region. Catalpa and mulberry are also good choices. Fruit trees take several years to mature before they'll produce fruit but you might enjoy planting Egg Fruit (Canistel) for a quick harvest.
