I have 5 redwood trees in the back yard, and having problems with the needles sheding. Three trees are over 25' tall, and help block the sun during the summer. Would it be appropriate to replace with evergreen ash trees, and how difficult would it be to replace the redwood trees. |
25' tall redwood trees can be removed but you'll need to do extensive digging to remove the roots prior to planting ash trees. If you simply cut the trees down and leave the root systems you may be introducing two problems: resprouting from roots, which could produce a colony of redwood saplings; and/or rotting roots which could introduce fungal problems for the roots of your new ash trees. Wish I had better news for you! |
