No bother at all and I am sorry for the delayed reply. Your ideas are all good ones and they may work if you can keep the sol from staying soggy wet and keep the temps around the plant near freezing or above. They can take a brief light freeze but not a hard one. I would use a coarse hay or pine needle mulch and then cover with bubble wrap that goes from the ground over the plants and back to the ground like a blanket (not wrapped around the plant). Then cover the bubble wrap with plenty more mulch. You might also consider digging and repotting some of the plants for winter.
