How would I go about growing and maintaining a small pumpkin patch where I live? I've never gardened before!

Pumpkins are some of the easiest crops to grow! Just select a sunny area, amend the soil with compost or aged-manure to help retain moisture and nutrients, and plant your seeds. Allow plenty of room for your pumpkin patch because these vines are notorious sprawlers. Most people hill the soil up into mounds which provides a trough for watering the pumpkin plants. Plant 3 or 4 seeds per hill, and stand back. With warm weather and lots of sunshine, you'll be harvesting pumpkins in the fall.
