| I have several baby impatiens that are just now coming up after sowing about a week ago. What kind of light and temperature do they need now. Also, as they get bigger how far apart should they be in my planters to allow enough growing area until I transplant them? |
| Impatiens are grown as summer annuals and like shade to part sun in the garden. Your seedlings will be happy indoors with regular household temperatures, so don't add bottom heat now that the plants are growing. Keep the lights about 6 inches from the tops of the plants, and give them 12-14 hours of light in each 24 hour period, to help them grow into sturdy transplants. You should put each plant into its own individual pot, or give each plant at least two inches of soil in order to grow healthy rootsystems. Transplant your seedlings into the garden by the end of March. |
