The Q&A Archives: Japanese blueberry tree (column)

Question: I have a planter that is 4 or 5 foot wide and 40 foot long - I would like to put Japanese blueberry column trees in this area but am not sure if I should use the Little Emperor blueberry hybrid or if I can stay with the regular size?

Answer: I'd use the Little Emporor because of the mature width. The standard blueberry tree will get twice as wide as the site and require constant pruning to keep it from overrunning your garden. Best wishes with your landscape!
