The Q&A Archives: cherokee sweetgum

Question: Is the root system of the cherokee sweetgum invasive like other sweetgums such as the palo alto?

Thank you,

Ken N.

Answer: The root systems of all liquidambar trees is shallow and wide. They are often planted as street trees, but they can lift sidewalks because the roots are so shallow. Hope this answers your question!
