The Q&A Archives: When should I trim back my Crepe Myrtles?

Question: When should I trim back my Crepe Myrtles?

Why does my satsuma tree only have 12 satsumas this year, Last year it had 8 bags full?

Answer: Kelli,

Trim your crapes back in January or early February prior to the onset of new growth. Satsumas can be erratic in production due to drought condition, lack of pollinating insects, or stresses to the plant during growth such as scale insects, lack of sunlight, etc.
