In zone 9, 20 to 30 degrees, should i cut back the lantana drastically or very moderately---only the dead leaf trailing parts?

Lantana is usually pruned lightly during the growing season (if needed to keep it tidy,) then can be pruned back by about a third in the spring just before it begins to grow again for the season if you want to cut it back harder to control size. I would wait until spring to prune as the old stems provide a bit of cold protection to the lower parts of the plant. In spring trim it back as much as you need to to remove any dead stems.
