The Q&A Archives: leveling sod

Question: what is the best way to level established sod to that smooth golf course look

Answer: Steve,

If the surface of the soil is not too uneven you can topdress the turf with a sand or sandy loam mix an inch or so at a time using a rake turned upside down and moved like a shuffleboard stick to smooth it into the lower areas. After the turf fills in those areas more soil can be added repeating the process until the lawn surface is level.
