Will the pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Sheen' do well in deep shade? We have a 18

Pittosporum will grow in semi-shade, but not deep shade. You might try growing camellia instead. An 18" deep planter will provide sufficient space for the roots of most perennials and small shrubs.
