| European Beech trees will grow in your gardening region and will take well to heavy pruning. So, basically you can grow one, but you'll have to be consistent with your pruning or it will outgrow the site in a hurry. You might want to reconsider your tree choice. One with a mature height of 20' will be easier to care for. How about Korean Mountain Ash (Sorbus alnifolia) This is a beautiful tree which has beech-like foliage and bark, white flowers in June, and pinkish-red berries in fall and winter that attract birds.
