The Q&A Archives: Old Seeds

Question: Can a gardener use some seeds from a previous year if the package has been left unopened?

Answer: Unless subjected to high heat and humidity, most seeds will remain viable for at least two years. If you plan to save seeds from year to year, place them in an air tight container such as jar with a tight fitting lid, and store them in a cool, dark place.
