How much water and fertilizer does a River Birch Tree need after it has been newly planted?

To help the roots become established, water deeply once each week. Most newly planted trees and shrubs need about one-inch of water per week. If rainfall is sparse, water deeply once each week. Don't fertilize now - wait until spring when growth begins. Best wishes with your new river birch!
