I have to move an old, well-established trumpet vine. Should I prune it back prior to transplant? How far? Thank you, Eddie |
Trumpet vines are such vigorous growers that you can cut them down to nearly ground level each winter and they will respond with lots of new growth the following spring. I'd prune the plant back to a manageable size for moving; as far back as necessary, being sure to leave at least two nodes on each stem. This is where new growth will emerge when the weather warms. Best wishes with your trumpet vine! |
