The Q&A Archives: Do Italian Cypress trees have invasive roots

Question: I would like to plant an Italiam Cypress in a small planter area surrounded by hardscape. Will the roots be a problem or is using root barrier enough protection for the surrounding hardscape??

Answer: In the site you describe, the roots would have no place to go other than down. I don't think you'll find them problematic.

Best wishes with your landscape!
