| What is the best mulch? I know to cut trees to ground level and mulch, but I'm not sure what is best - hay, straw, hardwood mulch. When do I use ammonium sulfate? Growing season or dormant season? Can I separate these trees like I do with my regular banana trees in the spring? Thanks for your quick response. |
| Pine straw is fine for mulch. It sounds to me as though you have lots of experience with banana trees. Your hardy banana is no different from the rest - divide in spring, use ammonium sulfate in spring after growth begins. Best wishes with your landscape! |
