The Q&A Archives: Seed Starting

Question: What is the germination period for tomato and soybean seeds? Seeds are being started indoors.

Answer: Generally speaking, tomato seeds germinate in 7-14 days. If you can supply bottom heat, they prefer temperatures between 70F and 85F degrees. Soybeans are slower to germinate, but don't mind cooler soil temperatures. Expect emergence in about 10-20 days.
