Camellias can be planted any time the ground is not frozen. We generally recommend a spring or a fall planting because temperatures are cool and rainfall abundant, both of which help the roots become quickly established. If you plant during the winter months be sure to keep your camellia watered to help the roots establish. Camellias are evergreen shrubs and their foliage remains a deep green color all year around.
