Need some recommendations on evergreen shrubs that can be trimmed to 4-6 feet maximum height to grow on the North side of a house with no direct sun but good filtered light and must have short root system. (Flowering is a plus but not a requirement.)

Brunfelsia pauciflora is a shrub with clusters of violet flowers with yellow centers. Camellia's - many varieties - love shadeand come in lots of colors. Daphne odora (Winter daphne) has tiny fragrant blooms in December and January.

Hope one of these suggestions is just right for your landscape.
