The Q&A Archives: Pruning a Tipachina Tree

Question: I have a 3

Answer: Sandy,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

Your Tipachina requires no special type of pruning. Basically you would want to remove any broken or rubbing branches, any growing lower on the trunk than you like, and then do some minor snipping to shape the tree a little into a form that is appealing to you. The more important thing is to not do much pruning after about early August so the tree is not pushed into a lot of late season growth.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
