| I would like to know the germination requirements of Lavender, Coreopsis Sunray, Petunias, and also Hollyhocks. Any other information that pertains to these seeds would also be appreciated. |
| All of these seeds can be started indoors and do not require light to germinate. Lavender needs to be pre-chilled for 4-6 weeks and is slow to germinate (20-90 days), and prefers a temperature range of 55F - 65F while germinating. Coreopsis is easy to grow; it takes up to 20 days for the seeds to germinate at 55F - 70F degrees. Hollyhock seeds will take 10-12 days at 60F to 70F degrees. Petunias take 7 to 10 days at about 70F degrees to sprout. You can sow your seeds in flats of moistened seed-starting mix and put the flats in a warm area such as on top of the refrigerator. After the seeds have sprouted, move them to a source of bright light. Once they've grown two sets of leaves, transplant them into individual pots. They're ready to go into thegarden as soon as spring arrives and the soil warms up. |
