I received as a Christmas gift Jonquill, Bearded Iris and Hyacinth bulbs. Can I plant them now? Should I chill them first? What can I do?

Your bulbs are probably already pre-chilled so go ahead and plant them so they can bloom on schedule. The iris rhizomes should be planted as well. Set them just below the soil surface and cover over, then water them in. If you have a lot of irises, dig a shallow trench and set the rhizomes 8-10" apart, then fill in the trench and water well.

Enjoy your flowers this spring!
