I cannot deal with store bought tomatoes all winter and would like to know if there really is such a thing as indoor gardening that actually works?

In my experience sun loving plants such as vegetables and herbs do not grow well indoors during the winter, mainly because the lighting is just not enough during the shortened and often cloudy days of winter. A possible exception might be if you have a heated greenhouse with supplemental light. In the meantime, it does make us appreciate the quality of truly fresh and flavorful produce when it is available. I wish I could be more encouraging.
