I just purchased two Evergreen Gardenias. I have them on my balcony. How often should I water them? I purchased them because they said they are shade loving plants. I face north so it is light filled but not much direct sun. Just want to know the best care for them. Thank you!

Your new gardenias will appreciate moist but not soggy soil so water as often as necessary to keep the soil moist. It will require more frequent watering during the spring and summer months; less during fall and winter. Gardenia's require acidic soil; feed every 2-3 weeks with a half-strength dilution of acidified liquid fertilizer (such as Peter's or Miracle-Gro). Enjoy your new plants!
