Thank you for a wonderful responce to my last question about my gardenia plant I am trying to keep alive during the winter. My question this time deals with the pot. I have your planter pot sitting in a larger more decorative pot. When I water the plant I can hear water dripping into the lower pot. Should I put the plant into a siruation where the water that drips through would be caught and ultimately returned to the plant? Thanks for your help.

It is important that excess water be able to drip out of the pot and drain away freely. Never leave the container sitting in water. You may need to empty the cachepot (decorative pot) after watering the gardenia. Over time the drained water in there will become stagnant and unpleasant.
