The Q&A Archives: Info on guapple

Question: I am looking for a tropical fruit(plant)common in Thailand and the Philippines.

The name is GUAPPLE. Can you help me please? If you can, I would like to know where I can buy the plant around our area.

Answer: Guapple is an atemoya cultivar, sometimes called big guava. My research indicates it's a guava-apple hybrid and it is more suited to growing in Florida where the heat and humidity are similar to that experienced in the Philippines. I cannot find a source for you in southern California, but you may want to try contacting the California Rare Fruit Growers for a source. Sometimes the members there will share cuttings of the fruit stock they're growing. (
