I have heard from recent trade magazines that Monrovia may have a new series of Salvia greggii, or some closely allied Salvia, which have larger flowers than the standard S. greggii. If so, can you please provide additional details on this line of new cultivars? I need about 100 l gal plants for a commercial project, preferably in a red or pink color. I'd really like to find a S. greggii which has flowers about twice the size of current common types.

Charles,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you. I am not aware of the salvias you mentioned. They are releasing a new Heatwave series of Salvia greggii which can be read about on the following web page, but it is not large flowered, just longer blooming and more compact.

Monrovia is a wholesale nursery. Their plants are available only through local retail garden centers.

Check out the following web site. It has a box for you to enter your zip code and will then give you a list of local retailers that carry Monrovia plants:

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
