The answer really depends upon the plants - some are hardier than others, and also on the specific weather conditions. Wind? Rain? Freezing temperatures? If you have tropical or sub-tropical plants and there's a freeze expected, cover them with Remay or even old sheets. Remove the covers in the morning once the temperature rises above 40F. If you're getting lots of rain, make sure the soil can drain freely so the roots won't suffocate. If you submit another question with more specific information, we can tailor an answers for your particular plants and expected bad weather.
