Can I start cardinal climbers indoors, if so, how many weeks before last frost? Or do they need to sown directly into the ground?

Seeds of Ipomoea, the Cardinal Climber, can be sown indoors 4-6 weeks before planting outdoors. To hasten germination, chip the seedcoat and soak seeds overnight before planting. Seeds take 5-21 days to germinate at temperatures of 70F to 85F.
