Question: I'm confused about when and how to prune our 12-foot-tall white-flowering hydrangea shrub. One book says to prune hydrangeas to the ground each fall; another advises to remove only spent blossoms in spring and not to prune in fall. Which source is correct? Sandy Parshall McLean, VA
