I just moved to Florida and want to have a palm tree near the pool area. What type of palm grows in a container? I have a screened porch so height will be an issue. If I can't grow a palm, what other tropical plant do you suggest for this pool area? |
Many palms are slow growing and suitable for growing in containers. You might consider Livistonia Chinensis (Chinese Palm), or Bottle Palm (Hyophorbe lagenicaulis), which is a dwarf palm. A final suggestion is Phoenix roebelenii (Pygmy Date Palm), which grow 6-8' at maturity. Best wishes with your new palm! |
