I planted the new variety of Impatients this past summer. They endure bright sunlight 100% of the time. They grew to be large beautiful plants but got frost bitten. We trimmed them back. Will they regrow from the roots? |
Heat and sun tolerant impatiens are not frost hardy so expect some leaf and stem damage on yours. If the roots were protected with mulch and did not freeze, the plant will come back this spring. When you begin to see new growth in other plants, prune away the winter damaged parts and new growth should appear from the crown of the plant. If the roots froze, the plants will not show new growth and will need to be replaced. Best wishes with your impatiens! |
