What kind of soil is best for growing peace roses |
All roses need a well drained soil, meaning they will not thrive in a low, wet spot. The soil should be average or rich; annual topdressings of compost and using an organic mulch will help to feed the soil on an ongoing basis. You might want to run some basic soil tests before planting. The pH should be between 5.5 and 7.0, with 6.5 being ideal. Your local county extension should be able to help you with the tests and interpreting the results with an eye on growing roses. Also, roses grow best in full sun all day long or for a minimum of six hours including the hour of noon. Good luck with your rose! |
