How to care for Crane's Bill ground cover plants |
Cranesbill or perennial geranium is a very low maintenance plant. It grows best in full sun or partial shade and does fine in average soil. Mulch around the plants with an organic mulch about two to three inches deep year round. In early spring, trim away last year's foliage that has been killed by winter cold. Topdress with compost and/or a slow release general purpose fertilizer (follow label directions) in mid to late spring. After they bloom, you can trim them back lightly to remove the faded blooms if you wish. This can help certain varieties that are able to rebloom later in the season to bloom better. There are many different kinds of cranesbill, so if you like them you might want to add more. Enjoy! |
