You can enjoy your potted tulips until the flowers fade and the petals begin to fall. At that time you can cut off the flower stems but you'll want to leave the foliage alone until it withers and dies back on its own. At that point you can cut off the old leaves and either unpot the bulbs and store them in a cool dark place until it's time to repot (or plant in the ground) in the fall, or you can simply leave the bulbs in the pot and store the pot in a cool dark place until next fall. In September or October either plant the bulbs in the ground or begin watering the bulbs in the pot. Water faithfully all winter long and next spring you should be rewarded with lovely tulip blooms. Best wishes with your tulips!
