My plant was killed by the cold spell, but is now leafing out from the root. I want to pinch the stem to bring more, how do I do it without killing the stem. Thank you.

Pinching will help the plant develop additional stems, but I'd wait until the new growth has had an opportunity to develop several sets of leaves. Allow it to grow to at least 8-10" before pinching it back. Pinch back just the very tip of the stem. This will provide 8-10" of remaining stem so new stems will have places to emerge, plus the leaves will nourish the roots which will then have the energy to produces additional stems from the crown of the plant.
